Some may have already heard, but The Fishin Hole on Shiloh Rd in Seneca, SC has reopened. Very convenient for fishing the upper ends of Lake Hartwell. They have gizzard shad and blue back herring. Last time I was there the bait looked very healthy. They are constructing a new addition on the side of the existing building to house new concrete tanks. Currently they also have round plastic tanks at the back of the store holding the bait. Looks like customers will be able to drive around the building to get bait/water, making it very convenient. They also have a good selection of tackle, including high-end bass gear.
The second new bait store opening is Blackwater Bait Co. on Hwy 378 between Lincolnton, GA and McCormick, SC. The store is located between the Hwy 378 bridge over Soap Creek and Elijah Clark State Park. The store will be very convenient for fishing the mid-lake areas of Clarks Hill. Sid Robb is opening this store. Should be open this weekend according to their Facebook page. He will be carrying tackle for striper, catfish and crappie fishing. He will also have gizzard shad, blue back herring, trout, shiners and crickets. I was there last weekend and their bait looked very health also. Plenty of room to drive up with your boat and get bait right from the tanks.
Good bait sure makes striper fishing a lot more fun. Hope some find this info helpful.
