No. It is not legal. Without a license, it is unlawful to accept anything above everyone's share of the expenses. I have over and over refused paying trips on Murray and the Hill due to not having my license. What others do is their business; however, I've never been comfortable with breaking a law of any kind. For that reason,I'm enrolled in online Sea School and am 3/4ths of the way through the course. Whatever others do, when I get the license, I will have the comfort of knowing I did things the right way. Who couldn't live with that?
