Heard some stories about using salt in bait tank water.
what is salt suppose to do besides dehydrate the shad. If the environmental salt concentration in higher than the normal physiological salt concentration in shad bodies, dehydration is insured which adds to the total stress factor. The fishes osmotic gradient is reversed and water is sucked out of the body and weight is lost. I thought the point is to reduce livewell stress, not add to it and make it worse.
Have you seen any up to date, accurate scientific information about using salt and the benifits? Thanks
