Many of us use Ambassador 6500 C3's, with 7 foot medium heavy rods. If you can spend more and really appreciate a good feeling rod, get the Ugly Sticks (the model which usually sells for about $50). But the Eagle Claw gold or black alternatives (~$30) will work just about as well.
