1: 20 lb. Big Game
2: Fluorocarbon leader (17-20 lb. P-Line, Yozuri (sp?))
3: Respool often!!!! (line is cheap)
4: Palomar knot is a must for Fluorocarbon lines and works great on everything else too.
I also started running a lot less drag on my reels (Abu 6500's). You can thumb the spool to set the hook then adjust in more drag if you need it. This lessens the chance of a break off while the rod is in the holder if a big fish starts to run when you don't expect it to. Once he's hooked, only work him as hard as you need to. My dad and best fishing partner just run very tight drags and they loose a lot more fish than I do.
