The uni knot doest not hold well with fluorocarbon (sp?) line or braided lines (spider wire etc...). I don't use super lines (spider wire) but have been using the fluorocarbon lines (P-Line) for leaders. This stuff is much more abrasion resistant than even Big Game, which I use for main line. I now use the Palmor knot on everything. You can even double loop a palmor for more line contact at the connection point.
Used to use the uni knot, but had a couple break offs that I suspected failed at the knot. Switched to the new P-Line, the Palmor knot and run a much looser drag and have 0 break offs in a very long time.
