I would not use anything less than 20 lb test when fishing Hartwell or Clarks Hill. Chances of hooking a larger fish are good. Chances of that larger fish getting into a tree before you can turn him are good. I have found Trilene Big Game 20 lb test to be economical and consistently strong. I also respool often. If you are worried about the fish seeing your line, use a good quality fluorocarbon leader in 17 to 20 lb test. Reels such as the Abu Garcia 6500 C3 are probably a better bet than spinning tackle. Most importantly, tie a good knot. A knot with two wraps of line through the hook eye will be a lot stronger. I like the "Palomar" knot because its easy to tie and consistently strong. JMS
