What is the thinnest type of 14 or 17 lb test line i have been using 10 and 12 on my medium sized rods and reels and have caught a lot of fish but i havnt been able to get one in the boat over 13 pounds. However i break at least one fish off on almost every trip. Since this is only my fourth month of chasing stripers i have only invested in two rods and reels capable of 20 pound line. Yesterday i fished from 7 am till 9 pm and only hooked one fish all day! It took it about 30 seconds to strip almost all the line off my reel and break it. So, what type of 14 or 17 lb line can i ger the most of on a large freshwater spinning reel or a 5500 ambassador? thanks in advance for any advice.
