I have been using 2 oz jigs with Tsunami blueback herring swim baits on Lanier to land deep water striped bass. Day befor yesterday I was out to try and land some for a photo shoot and had success with this method as well as power reeling one of Captain Macks new baits. You can check out the method I was doing with the Tsunami by clicking on the link below. For the power wind method I was using a 2 oz Captain Mack jig that has a second hook with bucktail. What I was doing was putting a dead blueback on the front hook and when I marked fish I would watch the sonar and drop the jig close to the transducer so I could see precisely when I was 20 feet or so below the fish. Then I would just start winding up as fast as I could and if I was not nailed I would simply freespool back down below them and continue to repeat as long as I was marking fish. You can see the hooks at Stripertackle.net and then click on Captain Macks products. Has anyone tried this on Hartwell or other lakes? You should...it works. http://www.stripertackle.net/products.asp?cat=35
