fish echoes are larger with the 50khz because of the wide beam the 50 give better detell the fish echoes are smaller with 200khz because of the narrow beam but they they show the same bottom contour but the 50 frequencey provides greater penetration in to the bottom and subsurface of the bottom this will let you determine the bottom characteristics such as mud sand rock or gravel or combo of all GOOD FISHING TO ALL
