FishFinder=Bait ??

Does anyone use their fishfinder to help them catch bait? If so,how? i.e.,If a ball of shad appears on your depthfinder,where is it in relation to the boat? I presume when it is in the center of the screen,it is directly under the transducer,Right?? I need help!
