I agree that there are situations where Warrens method may not be the best. I have just learned it myself and it is much better than the method I was using. I mostly cast it open deep water. Warrens method also doesn't require you to wear rain gear in cold weather to stay dry and eliminates having to put the net in your mouth which is no fun when catching shrimp in tidal creeks. The method Warren is talking about is specifically good for large nets (8' radius and above). It doesn't work as well on smaller nets. When we go after blueback herring on Hartwell, Thurmond and Murray lakes, we are usually in open, deep water and the larger nets get the job done a lot quicker and easier. Warren can also use his method with smaller nets but he has practiced a lot more than I have.
