Lewis Carl Vest, 74, of 40 Kay Drive, Greenville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Travelers Rest Jan. 22, 1929, he was a son of the late Carl and Maude Vest.
Mr. Vest retired from Bootle Equipment Sales and Services after 29 years. He was also one of the founding members of the Striper Kings Fishing Club and the treasure for the past 22 years.
Mr. Vest was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances B. Vest.
Also surviving are his sons, Ronald L. Vest, Mickey L. Vest and Eddie L. Vest; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen L. and Brian Burton, and Kelli L. and John Stephens; a special friend, Susan Medlin; grandchildren, Brian, Amanda and Timothy Vest, Jaime Waddell, Adam Burton and Emily Stephens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Frances Vest, Benny and Gail Vest, and Boyce and Wanda Vest; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cleo Bradley, Joyce and Joe Dobson, and Joann and Donald Dockery.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Travelers Rest. The Rev. Bennie Durham will officiate.
The pallbearers will be Jerry Koon, Gerald Smith, Ronnie Sims, Barry White, Rob McClure and Horace Owens.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615; or to the charity of one's choice.
The family will be at 40 Kay Drive, Greenville.
